History of NASCAR

NASCAR, or the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, is a professional stock car racing organization based in Daytona Beach, Florida, USA. It was founded on February 21, 1948 by Bill France Sr. with the goal of organizing and promoting stock car racing. The first NASCAR Strictly Stock race, which later became the Cup Series, was held on June 19, 1949, at Charlotte Speedway in North Carolina.

It operates three national racing series: the Cup Series, the Xfinity Series, and the Camping World Truck Series. The Cup Series, which is the highest level of NASCAR competition, features races on oval tracks and road courses throughout the United States.
