Diatype font is a typeface that combines the elegance of a classic grotesque with the warmth of a rounded sans-serif. It was designed by Johannes Breyer and Fabian Harb and published by Dinamo Typefaces. They also call it ABC Diatype font.

Now in this article, we will explore the origin, features, usage, and alternatives of the font.

Origin of the Diatype Font

During Fabian’s student days, the Diatype started as an exploration of the Swiss neo-grotesque genre. He experimented with different versions of the typeface for his school projects and eventually developed a slightly lighter regular and italic duo.

Elias Hanzer, a long-time member of Dinamo, finished ABC Diatype in 2018. He expanded the single-weight design with Upright and Italic styles to a family with five weights from Thin to Bold and also added monospaces and Italics for each weight. There is also a Schoolbook Stylistic Set with a simple a, a flat-top t, and numbers that slant up.
